--------------------------------------------

Maria Alvarez (Catalina Sandino Moreno), a bright, spirited 17-year-old. lives with three generations of her family in a cramped house in rural Columbia.

Disperate to leave her job stripping thorns from flowers in a rose plantation, Maria accepts a lucrative offer to transport packets of heroin-which she must swallow- to the United States.

The ruthless world of international drug trafficking proves to be more than Maria bargained for as she becomes ultimately entangled with both drug cartels and immigration officials.

The dramatic thriller builds toward a conclusion so powerful and revealing it could only be based on a thousand true stories.

Written and Directed by Joshua Marston

Drug trafficking.... what a crazy job to have. And even worse, you have to swallow them in an empty stomach, and keep them in there until you land the U.S.-probably more than half a day-. If one of those packets breaks or explodes in her stomach she's dead.... But she had almost no other choices. Working conditions for women with no skills in Columbia was hopeless. And she had a baby in her body...

If nobody demands those drugs, there will be no such crazy jobs in this world.

I'm so worried this all"drug issue" comes into Japanese society with more power from overseas. Japanese schools are already having problems with classroom disintegration and complains from parents going beyond common sense.

Why don't we think about pros and cons of globalization once again by watching this movie?
